Hello, dedicated and new Kiddos A Go-Go readers and subscribers!
You have likely noticed some changes and an influx of events going on the events page--that is because Christy has handed the reins over to me. I am excited about what Kiddos A Go-Go has to offer and want to be sure that this site is full of the information you want and need.

A little about me: I am a single mom of a tenacious 8-year-old and have lived in San Luis Obispo County for the last 14 years. I didn't grow up here, but my parents did and my grandparents and great-grandparents lived here until their deaths. After my parents married in 1973, they moved to Hayward where my father was going to graduate school and then they moved to the MidWest where he completed his schooling. I was born and raised in the MidWest, but always had a strong connection to California, especially the Central Coast, so after I graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in English: creative writing, I moved to Atascadero and haven't left.
Soon after arriving in Atascadero, I went to work at the Atascadero News and spent a few months working for Paso Robles Press (owned by the same company). I worked for Atascadero News from 2003-2007 as a reporter/photographer/editor and then returned to the paper after my daughter's birth in 2009 and was the editor until 2013.
Since then I've been working as a freelance writer, photographer and editor for various publications (you can find out more about my writing at www.heatherayoung.com). I am also Director of Communications and Family Ministeries at a local church. I spend a lot of time cultivating lists of events, going to events and spending time with children. My daughter and I love to go out exploring, both where we live and the wider world. I crazily took my daughter to Japan for four months to stay with a friend while I worked remotely and found that my daughter is a kindred spirit and a fantastic traveler.
Japanese Cultural Day in Fukuoka. After trying on kimonos, we got our photo taken with a model in full traditional dress.
Another thing that will come out in blog posts and resources I post on this site, is that both my daughter and I have intolerances to gluten and dairy, and my daugther has sensitivies to even more food. So I am sensitive and cognitive of food allergies and challenges for families.
I am dedicated to making this a site that is useful to you and what you're looking for.
