The California Mid-State Fair is a 12-day event held every summer in Paso Robles (2198 Riverside Ave.) that really does have something for everyone from a vast offerings of food and drink (including local wine and beer) to carnival rides, farm animals, concerts, exhibits and so much more.
The fair is my daughter's favorite summer activity. Every year after our last day at the fair, she asks "when can we go again?" When I tell her "in a year" she's very sad and counts the days until it comes again. This year, I was ready to start our vacation before the fair began, but she convinced me to go to the first day of the fair (am I crazy?!?) and THEN go on vacation.
Though I'm not sad to be missing the fair, I do enjoy going and I enjoy seeing my daughter having a good time. I've been going to the fair for many years, and for many years I went to fair nearly every day as I was working as a local journalist and that made up a lot of our coverage because there wasn't much else happening. So I will impart my knowledge and share information you'll need to know before you go.
Dates: Wednesday, July 19 through Sunday, July 30, 2017
