I’m so excited that it’s finally starting to feel a bit like Fall in San Luis Obispo County! I’m looking forward to fewer warm days, crisp air, bundling up, and pumpkin everything! Most of all, I’m excited for an October and November full of family-friendly adventures and events on the Central Coast. Here are some of our favorites:
Family Adventures - October & November 2015
From pumpkin farms to butterflies, these next two months won't disappoint! Add some (or all) of these activities to your Fall bucket list and let me know which are your favorite!
Visit Pumpkin Farms
Fall isn't complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch!
Visit Apples Farms!
There are lots of apple farms to visit on the central coast! Head to SLO Creek Farms or Avila Valley Barn to pick your own or taste and bag your favorites at Gopher Glen, Creekside Apple Farm, and/or See Canyon Fruit Ranch!
Visit the Scarecrows in Cambria and San Simeon!
Stroll through Cambria and San Simeon to see the hundreds of whimsical scarecrows on display throughout the month of October! The theme for this year's Cambria Scarecrow Festival, “A Magical Place,” encourages everyone to celebrate the magic that surrounds us. Use your smart phone or tablet to scan the QR code on each scarecrow to learn about it, track your favorite scarecrows, and rate them. More info.
Experience the NEW Play Area at the Paso Robles Children’s Museum!
The Paso Robles Children's Museum is wonderful already, and they're putting in an exciting new play area, Hero's Park. The grand opening of the new area is on Sunday, October 11th and admission is FREE all day! More info.
Visit the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden!
Fall is beautiful at the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden! Visit the Children’s Garden, a fun and safe place for kiddos to learn, explore, and grow. They also have some special events happening in October, including 'Bats: Beyond Legend' and 'Kid's Bat Book' on October 10th, 'Fall Plant Sale' on October 24th, and 'California Condors' on November 14th.
Enjoy a Fun and Safe Halloween!
Visit the Monarch Butterflies in Pismo Beach
Thousands of vibrant orange and black Monarch Butterflies flock to Pismo Beach each year from October to February, seeking shelter from the freezing northern winters. You can see them clustered in the limbs of a grove of Eucalyptus trees at Pismo State Beach. Visit the Monarch Butterfly Grove anytime, but be sure to head over on November 1 for a special event, 'A Brush with the Butterflies at the Monarch Butterfly Grove' to kick off the 2015-16 season. There will be plenty of activities, booths, and butterflies!
Participate in a Turkey Trot!
Have fun and burn some calories before your Thanksgiving feast!
